After reading these tips, you are going to feel SUPER prepared to tackle all of your tasks!
This post is all about the 6 best ways to be productive at home.
6 Ways to Be More Productive at Home
1. Master Task-Stacking
The best part of being at home is that you can tackle all of your chores simultaneously.
For example, if your to-do list looks a little something like this:
- Do Laundry
- Vacuum
- Return Library Book
- Send Email to XXX
- Change Sheets
you can actually tackle multiple things ALL AT ONCE.
Maybe you start a load of laundry and, while it’s going, you run to return your book. You come back home and see that there are 8 minutes left on your laundry cycle, so you do a quick vacuum.
BOOM!
3 things checked off!
In order to master task-stacking, I like to time-block my day. This gives me a much clearer idea of what I have on my agenda and how much time each task will take.
Plan your day so you can make the most of your time… which takes me to my next tip.
2. Have a Solid Plan
Having a well-thought-out plan can help you stay productive at home. Whether you use an actual planner or plan your days online, making the effort to schedule your time is SUPER helpful in boosting productivity.
Between being a full-time college student, working from home, AND running my blog, sometimes I swear my planner is the only thing that keeps me sane.
Keeping a consistent and organized planner is truly one of the MAIN things that keep me productive! I don’t know how I ever lived without one.

3. Set a Good Sleep Schedule
Sleep is VITAL for your health, wellness, mind, and productivity!
Making sure you get enough sleep is a MAJOR part of setting yourself up for success the next day.
I think we can all remember a time (or ten) where we did not get enough sleep for whatever reason and just felt AWFUL the next day.
When you are running on less than enough sleep, there is no way you can be as productive or operate at your full potential.
It happens. But don’t let that become your normal!
Having a solid nighttime routine can really help with this.
4. Tackle One “Big” Task a Day
Do ONE thing every day that makes you feel like you just crossed something big off your to-do list. This is a KEY way for me to make sure I’m staying productive at home.
Some examples of this might be:
- Cleaning Out Your Closet
- Submitting a Big Assignment
- Completing a Work Project
- Cleaning Your Shower
- Organizing Your Fridge
Whatever it may be, try to tackle one thing each day. It keeps the ball rollin’ and the productive juices flowin’!
5. Set Up a Work Space You LOVE
Your environment plays a key role in how you perform.
Your mindset, your health, your success, and your productivity are all a direct result of the environment around you.
Since transitioning to working entirely from home this past year, I have seen this importance firsthand. Over the past few months, I have been adding tools, accessories, and work essentials to my at-home work environment.
I tend to go for a girly, glam vibe with my own at-home workspace but you can really make it your own…
In fact, it’s important that you make it your own! When you’re in a space where you feel most yourself, you are bound to thrive!
6. Make Time for Self-Care
If you’ve read any of my previous posts on self-care, you’re gonna roll your eyes when I say this phrase again.
SELF-CARE IS PRODUCTIVE.
If you’re burnt out, you aren’t going to be able to be your most productive self.
Burnout is real. Self-care is the cure.

For me, one of my favorite ways to practice self-care is reading a good book. It allows me to rest my mind and take a break from all the things I feel like I have to do and do something I truly want to do.
No matter what self-care looks like for you personally, taking time to refresh is one of the best ways to keep yourself productive at home.
