Body image is something that is a work in progress for many of us. These positive affirmations for body image can help you work towards improved body confidence, body respect, and body love.
Affirmations are a tool used to rewire and retrain our unconscious thoughts and beliefs.
Many of us hold limiting beliefs about our bodies and physical appearances. If you struggle with love self-esteem, body image, body confidence, or even just body respect, these body image affirmations are for you.
Through repetition, these body image affirmations are incredibly powerful in working to retrain your subconscious mind to a place of body respect, appreciation, and love.
Body Neutrality vs. Body Confidence
These body image affirmations are split into a couple of different categories here: body neutrality and body confidence.
But… what’s the difference? What do those terms even mean? Let’s break it down.
What is Body Neutrality?
Body neutrality is exactly how it sounds. It is simply feeling neutral toward your body.
No overwhelmingly positive or negative emotions come up surrounding your body.
Body neutrality offers you the flexibility to have both more confident and less confident days without the feeling of “failure”.
This concept simply affirmations that you are valuable and worthy of respect without any emphasis on your body’s shape, size, color, etc.
Additionally, body neutrality can be helpful for those coming from a negative body image space. Sometimes the leap from “I hate my body” to “I LOVE my body” is too much.

Expecting that shift to happen overnight can be overwhelming and may set you up for failure.
Body neutrality can be a great stepping stone.
When working on healing your relationship with your body and improving your body image, body neutrality can help.
What is Body Confidence?
Body confidence is a positive relationship with your body.
Whether it be for its appearance, its functionality, or just for its existence, body confidence implies a positive relationship between your mind and your physical body.
I also like to group the terms “body respect” and “positive body image” under this umbrella.
Having body confidence implies that you feel confident in your body.
I think it’s important to note that this feeling does not have to be concrete.
Body image fluctuations are normal and happen to everyone.
However, if you have an overall feeling of appreciation and confidence in your body, you may have pretty good “body confidence”.
So, What About Body Positivity?
Body positivity is very misunderstood.
At its root, the body positivity movement is for people that exist in marginalized bodies.
The term “body positivity” has been taken on by people in non-marginalized bodies and manipulated to seem synonymous with “self-love” or “positive body image”.
Positive body image is not the same as body positivity.
As someone in a privileged body, I do not use the term body positivity because I recognize that the movement was not created for me.
Because of that, you may notice that these positive affirmations for body image are not titled “body positivity affirmations” as I cannot speak on the body positive movement.
