Are you looking for the best simple everyday habits for success? I have compiled 21 perfect habits for exactly that!
Did you know that it takes 21 days to form a habit?
That is why it seemed appropriate to give you my top 21 simple everyday habits for success.
I know from personal experience that after implementing these 21 simple habits into your everyday life, you will start to see major growth in your own personal success.
This post is all about simple everyday habits for success.
21 Everyday Habits for Success
1. Surround Yourself with Support and Motivation
This may not seem like a habit but, believe me, it is.
Make it a habit to be with people who build you up, hold you accountable, push you to achieve, and support your dreams. Who you choose for the company makes a HUGE difference in the trajectory of your life.
2. Set Goals
Setting goals is the first step in achieving them.
3. Use a Planner
Plan your months, weeks, and days. How rigid you are with this really depends on your personality and what works best for YOU personally. But planning is a huge help in keeping you on track with your goals.
4. Take Social Media Breaks
Social media is not only a time killer, it can be a mental health killer, too. As much as I love connecting with people through social media, I’ve made it a habit to take breaks routinely.
5. Read
Set an intention and stick to it.
For example, make the effort to read one book each month.
This is actually super doable, even if you are not a reader. You can choose any type of book.
I tend to go for a lovey chick-flick fiction or self-help. Choose whatever you prefer. Reading, in general, is a great way to keep your mind fresh and boost productive thoughts.
6. Cook Meals at Home
I love some good take-out as much as the next girl.
But cooking from home can be so fun! I love to find and experiment with new recipes and flavors!
Not to mention, cooking from home often adds more whole and nutritious foods to your diet.
When you fuel well, you feel well!
(Don’t worry, we leave lots of room for treats here too! Life is all about balance!❤️)

7. Journal
Whether it be gratitude journaling, daily reflecting, or just completely free-writing, journaling is a great way to get things out of your mind to allow you to refocus, stay happy, healthy, and sane.
8. Have a “Day Off” Every Week
In order to be productive, you have to allow yourself time to rest.
Being go-go-go all the time is not as productive as it sounds. You cannot be productive if you’re burnt out.
Downtime is essential.
9. Make One Person Smile Everyday
This is one of my favorite habits I have tried to adopt. It is so simple and does wonders for my own happiness.
This can be a simple compliment, paying it forward, or just offering a smile.
Brighten one person’s day every day. Imagine the impact you can have in just one year…
That’s 365 smiles caused by YOU.
10. Prep Your Coffee the Night Before
Or your tea… or your breakfast.
Honestly, the point here is to just make your morning easier which, in turn, makes you more likely to get out of bed in a positive headspace.
It really is the simple things.
(Full authenticity: since the start of quarantine, my mom has been the one that pre-makes the coffee. But that doesn’t make me appreciate it any less in the morning. Coffee at the push of a button? Count me in. Thanks, mom!)

11. Set a Cleaning Schedule
A master list of all your cleaning chores helps keep them from clouding your mind in your day-to-day life. I recommend going one room at a time, adding things into a rotation until they’re all there!
Scheduling/planning these tasks specifically will keep you on track, making you more accountable and likely to do them. Whereas if they are just big, dreaded, lingering “to-dos”, they will weigh on you and (let’s be honest) be pushed off week after week.
Some examples for the list include:
- Clean the Shower
- Declutter a Bedroom Closet
- Clean-Out the Fridge
- Vacuum Carpets
- Dust Living Area
- Change Sheets
You get the point… start tackling ’em one-by-one. You got this! (Think of how good you’ll feel once it’s done!)
12. Schedule Your Daily Time
This might seem like a no-brainer but it’s more difficult than you’d think… this is something I’m still working on making a consistent habit myself.
ESPECIALLY when working from home (but this applies even if you aren’t), planning our time is essential. It becomes very easy to let work take over fun (or vice versa).
If you are doing “work-y” things, set aside a time block for that (like a scheduled, in-person job would).
Once the time is up, get up and take a break. Let yourself have some at-home downtime. I stand by what I said in habit #8… downtime is essential.
But the same applies to the opposite. If you’re someone who tends to let fun take over and hinder your productivity, set some time markers here as well. Dedicate yourself to work for a specific amount of time and then, once that’s up, go have a blast, girlfriend.
Time management… that’s essentially what I’m getting at in a Del-ramble, long-winded type of way.
Practice good time management.
Okay, next!

13. Learn One New Thing Everyday
No matter WHAT it is, make it your mission to learn something.
A while ago, I got into the habit of including all my new learnings in my nightly journal entry. This is something I want to pick back up. It felt so rewarding to reflect on the knowledge I was gaining each day.
Not to mention, you are becoming smarter every. single. day!
Heck yeah!
You Rock!
14. Prioritize
Sometimes it feels like there are a million things on our to-do list and, when we look at it, all we FEEL like doing is crying.
I get you. It happens!
This is where you take a deep breath and prioritize!
Decide what’s most important, essential, or time-sensitive, and start there! Chances are not ALL of the things need to be done RIGHT NOW. So make a prioritized list and take it one at a time.
You will still get it all done! Don’t stress yourself out!
15. Take Time for Self Care
I’m gonna say it again: downtime is essential.
You get nowhere running on empty.
Make it a habit to include simple self-care activities daily.
If you’re unsure where to start, I have a free 30 Day Self-Care Challenge that offers you many ideas! Hopefully, that can provide the inspiration to get you started!
16. Spend Time Outdoors
This can be a quick outdoor workout, a leisurely walk, or even just sitting outside.
The fresh air is good for mental clarity!
17. Eat Breakfast
Getting in fuel and nutrients in the morning sets you up for success.
If you’re not a morning eater (can’t relate… I love me some breakfast), try to at least have something to put some gas in your tank for the day! An apple? A banana? Some oatmeal?
I find I work much better, my emotions are more stable, and my mind is much more alert when I am well-nourished!
18. Drink Enough Water
You’ve heard this a million times?
Good, maybe it’ll soak in (pun intended).
Nobody works well with a dehydrated headache. Take care of yourself and go drink a big glass of H2O!
19. Consistently Add to a Savings Account
If you are at a place where you have some money that you do not actively need, add it to a savings account.
No matter how much it is.
$100 here, $2 there.
If you do this consistently, it adds up quickly.
Why not set yourself up for your future if you have the means to?!

20. Get Enough Sleep
Similarly to not fueling your body right, sleep is essential for productivity.
As I said, nothing runs on an empty tank.
Sleep is vital to your success, health, and happiness. Do not skimp on it!
21. Practice Gratitude
It is important to know that you can simultaneously be working towards goals AND appreciate where you’re at now.
Life has so many incredible blessings if you choose to see them. Shift your focus, change your outlook.
This habit benefits you in productivity, fulfillment, happiness, health… EVERYTHING.
Take a look around and list at least 3 things you’re grateful for.
Repeat this every day. Make it a habit. I promise you’ll start seeing the effects.
It takes 21 days to create a habit.
So there is no better time to start than today. Forming good habits (or breaking bad ones) can feel daunting and tedious but it truly is so important.
Habits lay the foundation for your life.
The habits we choose to build play a huge role in forming our path. What we actively repeat, day after day, are the things that make up our existence. That is why it is not only important but essential to form habits that are conducive to the life you want for yourself.
These 21 simple everyday habits are my own favorites that I have formed over the past few years. I find that this helps to make me more successful, fulfilled, productive, and happy.
