Looking to create your own life goals list? These 100 life goals are perfect for motivating and inspiring your own goals for your life.
Setting goals for your life is one of the best ways to set yourself up for success. Whether it’s something as small as drinking more water or something as big as buying a million-dollar dream home, goals can help guide your life to where you want it to be.
Making a list of goals to set for yourself is something I recommend everyone do. The sooner you make your life goals list, the sooner you can really get focused on your goals and start checking them off.
Why Set Life Goals?
Making a life goals list is super beneficial to you and your life. If you have goals for your future, you are more likely to pursue them.
Studies have shown that setting goals can instigate a shift in behaviors. This is to say that, by setting goals, your everyday behaviors are more likely to shift to accommodate and align with those goals.
Additionally, setting life goals is a great way to gain focus, inspiration, and motivation. By making a list of life goals to set for yourself, your mind becomes more attracted to those goals.
Making a list of 100 life goals can be super helpful for those times that you feel unmotivated, defeated, or burnt out. By simply referring back to your 100 life goals, you can reignite that passion and refocus. Having clear goals for yourself is a reminder of why you are working so hard. Even when you get tired, your goals can help keep you moving forward on the right path for your dreams.
How to Set Life Goals?
Setting life goals is something that is highly personal to each individual. That said, there are some life goals tips that can help guide you in the process.
Firstly, you are going to want to take some time to envision the life you want to live. Think ahead 10, 20, 30, 40 years… Where do you want to be? Who’s in your life? What have you accomplished? Where are you living? What are you doing?
These questions can help guide you towards the appropriate life goals to get you there.
Next, it can be really helpful to have a brain dump session. Basically, this is just a major brainstorm where you jot down all the goals that come to mind. This should be pretty quick. If a life goal comes to mind, jot it down. We can fine-tune it later.
Often, when we overthink our goals, we get in our own way. Overthinking can lead to self-doubt and negativity that can harm your life goals. By brainstorming freely, you can stop overthinking your goals and just get creative.
Lastly, we can go through and fine-tune our life goals. This involves categorizing them, altering them, specifying them, removing them, or adding to them. There are no real rules here. After all, they are YOUR life goals. They should be meaningful, achievable, and motivating for you.
Understanding the 7 Main Areas of Life
When making a list of goals to set for yourself, it may be beneficial to set goals pertaining to the different areas of life. Tony Robbins has created the “Pyramid of Mastery” that highlights seven key areas of our lives.
These 7 areas of life are:
- Physical Body
- Emotions and Meaning
- Relationships
- Time
- Career
- Finances
- Contribution and Spirituality
These seven areas of life can be a helpful guide when setting your goals. I’ve found that the majority (if not all) of the goals I’ve set for myself fall into one of these seven categories.
To give your list of 100 life goals some structure, consider dividing your goals into these categories (or categories of your own!).
For sake of organization, I will be utilizing a variation of Tony Robbin’s 7 life areas to categorize these 100 life goal ideas.
10 Areas of Life for Setting Life Goals
I’ve divided these 100 life goals into 10 categories, originally inspired by Tony Robbin’s 7 areas of life listed above.
These 10 Categories Are:
- physical health
- mental health
- relationships
- career
- finances
- contribution to society
- personal growth
- spirituality
- lifestyle
- hobbies/passions

Can I Change My Life Goals?
So you’ve made your list of 100 life goals to set for yourself. Now what? You’re stuck with them forever, right?
Wrong.
Your goals are flexible and shapable. As you grow and change, your goals will probably change with you. That’s okay! In fact, that’s a good thing!
Consistently checking in with your life goals is important to make sure they stay up-to-date with your current position in life.
We grow as individuals every day. That is the goal in life, right? To be ever-evolving.
I definitely don’t want the same things today as I did in high school. My goals have changed… I have made new ones that better reflect the life I want for myself.
Your list of life goals is not set in stone. You have the power and ability to make adjustments when needed.
Wait. Why are you changing your life goals?
That said, I would caution to be aware of the motives behind shifting a goal. Sometimes we feel like giving up on a goal because we have lost motivation or have failed at it once. We make excuses and let it go, even though we want it deep down. This is simply taking the easy way out.

To be brutally honest, you may be the #1 thing holding yourself back from your dream life. It’s tempting to drop goals and convince ourselves that they’re not what we want when, in reality, they are just difficult.
Goals are meant to push us.
They are not meant to be easy. It takes courage, resilience, and strength to tackle your goals. But, to be honest, that is the only way to achieve the life of your dream.
Goal setting and hard work.
Making a list of 100 life goals is a huge first step.
Stick to it. Dedication, passion, resilience, and patience. You will get there.
I am here, rooting for you and your goals! Go get ’em!
